This semster we are creating a 16 page magazine, completely designed by ourselves. From 6 advertisements, to 2 interviews, and a cover.
When I start a layout, I first put all of my type onto the layout, and then build it from there. To get the colors for my layout, I pull colors from my images that I have taken. This makes everything feel whole and on purpose. For my typography, I try to use a font that makes since, and fits in with the images, and what I am talking about.
Everything kind of comes together from there. Then I will tweak things and that’s when I can call it complete.
